Who is Martha Gunn?

Martha Gunn is the coroner for Shrewsbury and its surrounds. With a Welsh father and an Irish mother and thick, unruly hair, with a touch of the red, she is an unusual choice for the post.  She is a qualified doctor and a widow with two children.

River Deep, is the first of her cases, set during the floods of 2002. Two bodies later and with a little investigating of her own she sets the book straight in the coroner's court.

BookPlace Review says: Masters' main skill is conjuring up vivid images of a typical provincial English town, its inhabitants and local police force. With a few loose ends it begs for a sequel - maybe Martha Gunn will become Masters' new heroine, her new Joanna Piercy."

But the two women are widely different.

And the book leaves unanswered several questions. What is the Message for Martha? Who has been delivering the hints? Why? I promise all will be revealed - eventually.....

SlipKnot, the 2nd in the Martha Gunn series came out in June 2007 and is also now available in paperback
